The Tyre Repair Technician is accountable to the Tyre Administrator for safe, efficient, accurate and cost-effective performance of tyre repairs for the company fleet which consists of TBR, OTR and PCR tyres. The incumbent will be direct providing training and guidance to subordinate staff and ensure equipment availability in support of the company operations through conducting timely and effective tyre repairs.
In-depth technical knowledge, skill and understanding of automobile tyre and tube repair processes (buffing, skiving, cementing, patching, and volcanizing).
Wide experience on repairing trucks and earthmover tyres.
Inspect tyres for defects or injuries and assess whether they are repairable or not.
Ensuring that all tyre repairs are done safely and in compliance with the company’s standard operating procedures, SHE, and job guidelines.
Ability to operate tyre repair equipment safely (i.e., Truck and EM Repair Systems)
Safe care and maintenance of tyre repair equipment.
Ability to suitably select and forecast tyre repair materials, consumables, tools and accessories, and re-order to avoid stock outs.
Good housekeeping – ensure that the tyre repair shop and the workplace are always kept clean and tidy.
Initiative-taker and good planner – able to work in a team with minimum supervision, plan work and to manage tyre repair turn-around time effectively.
Assist with coordination of tyre bay operations and perform other related duties as directed by management from time to time.
Minimum of five ‘O’ Levels, to include English, Mathematics and Science.
Appropriate trade certification in automobile tyre repairing or any related discipline.
Minimum of 3 years working experience on TBR and OTR/Agric tyre repairs.
Supervisory or lead hand experience in a tyre company is an added advantage.
