Job Description
The Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (ARDA) is undergoing transformation to spearhead Rural Development and National Food, Feed and Fibre Security for the Nation in pursuit of Vision 2030.The Authority invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals to fill the following positions:
Duties and Responsibilities
The incumbent's key responsibiities shall include but not imited to:
• Oversee the Planning and sustainable implementation of Rural Devebpment Projects.
• Supervision of Regional and Irrigation Scheme Managers to ensure meeting of set targets.
• Formulates Rural Development Poicies, Systems and Procedures.
• Assists in the formulation and evaluation of project proposals to ensure that they meet the basic requirements of the Authority, Government of Zimbabwe and/or approved Development Partners.
• Coordinates all Rural Devebpment Projects in liaison with the Authority, Government of Zimbabwe and/or approved Development Partners.
• Overseeing provision of field and technical support to smallholder, rural irrigation scheme, Al and A2 farmers under dedicated Programmes.
• Overseeing the training and capacity building of rural irrigation scheme and smallholder farmers to ensure that the farmers adopt best farming and management practices to boost production and productivity.
• Overseeing the designing and implementation of training centres for rural irrigation schemes and smalholder farmers.
• Prepares Pubic Sector hvestment Programmes (PSIP) Budgets for submission to Parent Ministry/ Development Partners for funding.
• Management of Rural Development Funds/Grants.
• Monitors deadlines and procedures for the preparation of Rural
Devebpment Projects' Capital Expenditure and Revenue budgets.
• Supervises research and any other studies related to Rural Development Projects and Irrigation Schemes in order to address the impact of the Projects.
• Coordinates the marketing of output/produce to enhance rural devebpment projects' viabiity and sustainabiity.
• Supervision of Regional Managers to ensure that they efficiently meet set targets.
Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor's Degree in Crop Production/Agronomy/Agriculture or equivalent.
• At least five (5) years hands on experience in managing Crops, Livestock, Fisheries and Wildlife Operations.
• Must demonstrate technical competence.
