Job Description

The Manager will oversee the production processes and co-ordinating production activities. Responsible for pre-production (planning) stage as well as the production (control and supervision) stage. The job involves dealing with people and resource/materials management.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan and draw up production schedules
• Ensure stock levels remain adequate to meet production requirements.
• Responsible for maintenance of machines and equipment.
• Ensure cost effectiveness in production by eliminating waste.
• Monitor the production processes and adjust schedules as may be necessary.
• Monitor productivity rates & product standards & implement quality control programmes.
• Liaise with other functions such as Sales and Marketing, Accounts, Human Resources to achieve company goals.
• Ensure that health and safety guidelines are followed at all times.
• Ensure customer orders are completed on time and to budget and that quality standards and targets are met.
• Collate and analyse data, putting together production reports for both workshop, personnel in the workshop and customers.
• Manage, supervise and motivate all workshop personnel.
• Review all workshop personnel performance and identify training needs.
• Reporting to the CEO faults that may occur on the machines as soon as you are aware of them and recommending corrective action.
• Any other duties as may be assigned to you by the Managing Director.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of a Diploma/degree in Manufacturing/Production engineering or Process engineering or any other relevant qualification.
• At least 5 years relevant working experience of which 3 years should be at Supervisor or Management level, not less than 40 years of age.

REQUIRED SKILLS
• Planning and organisation skills to be able run and monitor the production process, ability to act decisively and solve staff or equipment-related problems.
• The capacity to grasp complex concepts easily, ICT literacy to deal with various technologies and programmes.
• Attention to detail to ensure high levels of quality, ability to communicate clearly and persuasively with production/workshop team, other functions and clients.
• Ability to work under pressure and multitask, leadership skills and the ability to motivate others to meet deadlines, results-driven approach to work, ability to work in a logical and systematic manner.
