Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following posts at Great Zimbabwe University:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Planning, scheduling, coordinating, supervising and occasionally participating in the work of a number of journeyman mechanics and semi-skilled personnel engaged in repairing and maintaining light and heavy automotive vehicles and construction equipment;
• Performing the more difficult or unusual diagnoses of malfunctions; and determining the corrective measures needed to place equipment in use;
• Directing the activities of mechanical and electrical journeymen and semi-skilled personnel in the repair and maintenance of Petrol, Diesel and Electrically powered buses and small vehicles;
• Advising subordinates regarding the fabrication and use of materials, parts and equipment; conducting road, field or shop tests to determine if reported malfunction or conditions have been corrected;
• Maintaining job work orders including keeping records of labour, materials, parts, supplies and other records necessary in the repair and maintenance process;
• Controlling the release of serviced and repaired vehicle;
• Supervising automotive servicemen engaged in cleaning, servicing and lubricating mechanical equipment; and
• Performing related work as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Applicants must have at least a first degree in Transport and Automobile Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering. Possession of a Class One (1) Journeyman in Diesel and Tractor/ Auto Electrics is a must. In addition applicants must have at least three (3) years’ experience in an automotive workshop and should be computer literate. Applicants should possess superior interpersonal and communication skills.
