Job Description

Solusi University has a vacancy for the position of Vice-Chancellor. The Vice Chancellor (VC) is the Chief Executive Officer of the University, providing overall administrative leadership, direction, and evaluation for the academic and administrative affairs of the University. The Vice-Chancellor is responsible to the University Council for leading the university strategically and developing initiatives for its sustainable growth locally, regionally and internationally.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Vice Chancellor
•Nurtures a culture of excellence across all parts of the University by providing strategic leadership in academic, administrative and financial management of the University;
•Exercises general oversight of the University’s financial position in order to ensure a sustainable financial base that allows the delivery of the University’s mission, aims and objectives focusing on operational excellence and solid fiscal performance;
•Ensures institutional compliance with the relevant statutory and regulatory framework in which the University functions;
•Presides over all affairs of the University Senate, oversees and plans academic programmes, and reviews the university's curriculum development in line with national and worldwide trends;
•Promotes a harmonious labour and industrial relations environment within the University;
•Provide strong leadership for all staff, nurturing an inclusive, collegiate culture to empower them to realize their full potential;
•Performs important ceremonial and civic duties;
•Effectively represents the university and promotes positive relationships and networks with government, other academic institutions, industry, and the broader community;
•Ensures good corporate governance in the maintenance of the university’ standards
•Ensures that the academic freedom of the University is protected.
•Demonstrated commitment to the SDA Philosophy of Christian Education

Qualifications and Experience

The Vice Chancellor must have;
•An earned Doctorate (PhD) from a reputable and accredited Higher Education Institution (HEI);
•Full Professorship attained in accordance with the ZIMCHE guidelines on academic promotions;
•At least five years of senior administrative level leadership preferably as Dean or higher level academic post in a reputable HEI;
•A record for creating an innovative learning, teaching and research environment in a reputable HEI;
•Evidence-based experience in resource mobilisation/grantsmanship and competencies in striking effective networks at the local, regional and global scales;
•Competencies in public financial management, strategic planning and team building;
•Sensitive communication with people of diverse cultures, languages and abilities; and
•As a Chartered Seventh Day Adventist institution the person should be an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist church in good standing which enables him/her to articulate the SDA philosophy of education and integrate faith and learning in various SDA platforms. The status will also render competitive advantage in terms of resource mobilisation from the constituency members.
