About REPSSI
REPSSI (the Regional Psychosocial Support Initiative) is a renowned pan-African Organisation that supports
governments and non-governmental organisations to provide holistic psychosocial care and support to children
and their families in East and Southern Africa. REPSSI works in 13 countries including Zimbabwe and aims to
enhance the psychosocial and mental well-being of girls, boys, youth their families and communities to be able
to respond to challenges such as HIV and AIDS, conflict, poverty, climate change, environmental disasters and
social strife.
REPSSI is a Training partner in a teaming arrangement working on the continuous professional development of
teachers in three provinces of Zimbabwe. REPSSI contributes to the capacity strengthening of ECD teachers to
implement the Social and Emotional Learning Project. The intervention promotes best practice, inclusion,
wellbeing and equality in early childhood development. The expected is reduced adverse behaviours and
attitudes in children, increased pro-social attitudes and behaviours (Ubuntu) at an early age.

Key Objective/ specific outcomes:
REPSSI seeks to appoint a dedicated and knowledgeable Early Childhood Education Social and Emotional Learning coordinator.
The candidate will be responsible for facilitating the continuous teacher professional development focussing
on in-service early childhood development teachers.
The trainer should be well versed in early childhood development, educational theories, and teaching
methods.
The position reports directly to the National Training Coordinator

Organizational Relationships:

Responsible for: Heritage Based Social and Emotional Learning Project
External Relationships Partners contributing to the TEACH Programme
Corporate Responsibility Provincial and District programmatic engagements and Coordination

Duties and Responsibilities

Coordination and
Management
 Facilitate the professional development and training of teachers on the
concept of the Social and Emotional learning
 Responsible for coordinating the enhancement of knowledge, skills, and
best practices to teachers work with ECD B children.
 Support planned training sessions in a variety of settings including
workshops, classrooms, and one-on-one coaching.
 Responsible for the provision of guidance and support to the training teams
 Ensure compliance with Technical Partner Guidance on delivering the
programme
 Collaborate with TEACH partners and implementing Committee to improve
instructional strategies
 Responsible for logistical support to trainees during their practical training
 Develop and maintain professional relationships with MoPSE personnel
involved in the programme

Qualifications and Experience

 Excellent communication skills
 Excellent negotiation skills
 Excellent report writing, analytical and oral presentation skills
3. Other requirements
 Contribute to development of other REPSSI programmes when requested
by management.
 Participate in the organisational strategic planning (planning, reviews and
related activities)
 Ability to work with diverse/multi-disciplinary teams.
 Possess coaching/mentoring skills.
 Proactive, resourceful, solutions and results oriented
 Carry out other work as assigned
4. Minimum qualifications and experience
 Proven experience working in the education sector/development sector
 Knowledge of early childhood development
 Strong organizational and administrative skills
 Ability to speak local language/s of the area.
 A Valid teaching Diploma from a recognised teachers’ college or
degree/diploma in a development related field
