Location: Young Africa International office, Harare, Zimbabwe (with frequent travels from time to time in Africa)
Reporting to: Grants Coordinator
Contract Period: 1 year but engagement will depend on availability of funding (There is a possibility of extension based on availability of funding and satisfactory work performance)
Job summary
Under the overall supervision of the Grants Coordinator, the Projects Coordinator will be responsible for planning, implementation, personnel management, resource management, monitoring & evaluation, associated stakeholder and partner relationship management, timely and quality reporting. S/he ensures successful implementation of YA project activities / results including as necessary coordinating external technical support / expertise.

Lead teams based in Burkina Faso and other countries implementing the projects under his / her portfolio; Conducting regular capacity assessment of implementing teams and partners; Designing responsive capacity building interventions to address any capacity gaps identified among implementing teams and partners; Supporting implementing teams and partners (where required) with their recruitment of project staff; Design and implement regular team building interventions for project teams at both YA International and partners level (where necessary); Planning, implementation and tracking of progress of projects in his / her portfolio; Organizing project-related events such as official openings, periodic learning / commemorative webinars, project tours etc; Monitoring burn rate, monitoring expenditure and ensuring all project expenditure is as per budget and that all expenses are allowable according to donor and internal policies; Facilitate disbursement requests for partners; Work closely with the Finance team to review financial reports submitted by partners and support by conducting regular expenditure verification exercises; Work closely with the Finance teams at YA International and at implementation to consolidate and prepare financial reports of the project; Preparing periodic project updates for management; Producing regular and scheduled project reports (for internal circulation and for submission to funding partners) ensuring that these reports are reviewed and signed off by Supervisor; Putting in place reporting mechanisms to facilitate production of scheduled reports by implementing teams and partners; Capacity building of project staff and implementing partners on project reporting; Working closely with the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Team to ensure that all project performance indicators are tracked adequately, timely and sufficiently to ensure adequacy of date for reporting progress and impact; Design and implement capacity building interventions for project teams in monitoring and evaluation of projects (where necessary), working closely with the monitoring, evaluation and learning team of YA International; Consolidate periodic narrative reports and make the necessary submissions to partners; Document project achievements, achievements, and learnings; Inform in future project designs from documented lessons; Working closely with the communications team to ensure adequate visibility of project activities and of the funding partners; Handling communications with funding partners, working closely with Partnership Manager and Head of Programmes; Assist with project design and proposal writing (supporting the Resource Mobilization Team) on new projects related to his / her project portfolio; Any other duties as assigned from time to time

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications
Fluency in written and spoken French and English; A Master’s degree in a Social Science, Vocational Education discipline and in any other relevant study area; At least 5 years of relevant work experience (NGO work), 3 of which should be at supervisory level; Highly computer literacy accompanied with critical thinking and analytic skills including oral and written skills; Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required to train / coach staff and give occasional presentations; Excellent organisational and time management skills required to meet tight deadlines; Familiarity with Project Management Cycle including appreciation of financial management; A self-starter, able to work independently but as part of a team; Practical field work experience with proven experience in working with Young People; Clean class 4 drivers’ license.
