Job Summary
Cimas Health Group, driven by its purpose to inspire healthier communities, seeks highly motivated Nurse Phlebotomists to join the organisation and receive patients, register patient details and collect pathological samples in line with ISO 15189 standards and Cimas Standards.
The successful candidates will be responsible for:
• Performing phlebotomy to collect blood samples from patients into appropriate tubes taking into consideration the volume of blood needed, test requirements and other special requirements
• Observing the physical condition of patients during blood taking and applies first aid practices when necessary to ensure the safety of patient.
• Performing aseptic collections of microbiology and cytology samples i.e. swabs and liquid based cytology samples.
• Checking if patient identifiers tally with information on test request form to ensure that the correct patient is being served
•Checking validity of medical aid cover and pathology benefit before registration of patient.
• Performing damp dusting daily to decontaminate the reception and procedure rooms surface areas.
Key Competencies
The ideal candidate must demonstrate strong attention to detail, effective counselling abilities, and proficiency in phlebotomy and the collection of laboratory specimens, along with the capacity to maintain high standards of confidentiality and patient care, as well as basic computer literacy.
Qualifications
• Registered General Nursing Diploma.
• Valid Practising certificate with the Nurses Council of Zimbabwe.
• At least two years of practical experience in private practice.
