Zimasco (Pvt) Limited, a major player in Zimbabwe's Ferrochrome Production, has an exciting, and challenging career opportunity at its Smelting Division in Kwekwe.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified, competent and experienced individuals to fill the vacant post of Laboratory Manager on a 3-year fixed term employment contract basis, renewable subject to performance:-
LABORATORY MANAGER
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Effectively manage laboratory operations to ensure delivery of high-quality, compliant analytical services supporting chromium fines and smelting processes
Develop, evaluate, and implement enhancements to analytical systems, sampling methods, and procedures, leveraging technological advancements to optimise efficiency in the analysis of Ferro chrome, gold, PGMs, and base metals
Drive optimisation of chromium throughput by identifying and alleviating bottlenecks across production and ferrochrome processing, ensuring adherence to planned volumes and required chemical specifications
Oversee and manage pyro-metallurgical processes to consistently produce conforming products that meet customer quality and performance requirements
Lead the implementation and maintenance of ISO 17025:2017 and ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems, alongside NOSA SHE System, to ensure operational excellence, compliance, and workplace safety
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
A degree in Chemistry or equivalent from a reputable institution
A minimum of five (5) years post qualification experience, three (3) of which should have been in a similar position in a heavy industrial manufacturing or mining and mineral processing environment
Pyro-metallurgical and ferrochromium smelting processes knowledge
Ability to apply laboratory sampling and analysis techniques including for gold, PGMs and base metals analysis.
Working knowledge of laboratory instruments maintenance systems and that include AA, XRF, ICP OES and UV VIS
Computer literate in Microsoft Office Suite and any other reputable ERP System, preferably SAP
Working knowledge of SHE and Quality Systems and exposure to the NOSA SHE System will be an added advantage
