Friendship Bench is seeking a suitably qualified, motivated, and service-oriented individual to fill the position of IT Assistant.

Duties and Responsibilities

User Support and Helpdesk Services
• Serve as the first point of contact for ICT-related support requests.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
• Support staff with email systems, collaboration platforms, and business applications.
• Escalate complex technical issues to the Digital, Data, and Information Systems Manager as required.
• Maintain records of support requests, resolutions, and recurring issues.
ICT Infrastructure Support
• Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, tablets, mobile devices, and other ICT equipment.
• Assist with network troubleshooting and internet connectivity support.
• Support audiovisual equipment setup during meetings, workshops, and organizational events.
• Monitor ICT equipment performance and report faults or maintenance requirements.
Systems and Data Support
• Support the maintenance and administration of organizational information systems and databases.
• Perform routine system checks, updates, and troubleshooting activities.
• Assist with data backup, restoration, and recovery processes.
• Support user account management, including account creation, modification, and deactivation.
Information Security and Compliance
• Ensure compliance with organizational ICT policies, procedures, and standards.
• Maintain antivirus protection, software updates, and security patches.
• Promote cybersecurity awareness and good digital practices among staff.
• Support periodic ICT security audits and reviews.
ICT Asset Management
• Maintain an accurate and up-to-date ICT asset register.
• Track allocation and usage of ICT equipment and accessories.
• Coordinate repairs, servicing, warranties, and replacements of ICT assets.
• Support inventory management of ICT consumables and equipment.
Capacity Building and User Training
• Conduct ICT orientation sessions for new employees.
• Provide basic training on organizational systems, digital tools, and ICT best practices.
• Develop user guides, quick-reference materials, and support documentation.
Administrative and Operational Support
• Assist with ICT procurement processes, technical specifications, and vendor coordination.
• Liaise with service providers and technology vendors under supervision.
• Prepare periodic ICT support reports and documentation.
• Support the implementation of ICT projects and digital transformation initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications and Experience
1. Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field.
2. Relevant professional certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft, Cisco, Google Workspace, or equivalent certifications will be an added advantage.
3. Minimum of two (2) years’ experience providing ICT support, helpdesk services, or systems support.
4. Experience supporting users within an NGO, healthcare, development, or corporate environment is desirable.
5. Experience working with Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, networking technologies, and ICT troubleshooting.
Specialist Skills Required
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of computer hardware, software, networking, and information systems.
• Understanding of ICT security principles and best practices.
• Experience with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and cloud-based collaboration tools.
• Ability to manage multiple support requests and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-service orientation.
• Excellent documentation and reporting skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
