Job Description


The House Mistress will provide a vibrant and positive pastoral and academic experience for the girls, as well as lead a busy boarding house with enthusiasm and commitment. She will be expected to contribute to the wider life of the College and will have experience of boarding life and leadership. A clear understanding of the pastoral needs of the girls is essential as well as an awareness of the demands of a full time boarding post where flexibility and resilience are required.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities and duties include:
To create an environment in the hostel that is conducive for relaxation and study.
To develop positive and constructive relationships with pupils.
To play an active role in ensuring the girls' welfare and personal development.
To liaise effectively and professionally with parents.
To ensure safety of girls and staff by maintaining accurate records, dealing appropriately with hazards, and reporting any problems.
To participate fully in extra-curricular activities and to help organise them as required.
To apply the College's Code of Conduct where necessary.
To counsel pupils when they need it, with respect to academic, social and behavioural problems.
To promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons by adhering to and ensuring compliance to relevant legislation.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications
Experience in running a boarding house essential.
A suitable qualification in Education and/or Counselling required.
Excellent I.C.T skills.
