Role Description
The Headmaster is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in Harare, responsible for the overall academic, operational, and strategic direction of Lumina Preparatory School.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Headmaster will oversee curriculum implementation, teaching quality, and student support services, ensuring that education and therapy plans are tailored to autistic and neurodivergent learners.
Daily responsibilities include managing staff, coordinating with therapists and support teams, engaging with families, and maintaining a safe, inclusive learning environment.
The role involves setting and monitoring educational standards, leading professional development, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and policies.
The Headmaster will also contribute to community outreach, school improvement initiatives, and long-term planning in alignment with the school’s mission and values.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications
* Strong foundation in Education and Pedagogy, with demonstrated ability to design and support effective teaching practices for early years and neurodivergent learners.
* Expertise in Curriculum Development, including experience adapting curricula to meet diverse learning needs and integrating therapeutic approaches where appropriate.
* Proven Educational Leadership skills, including staff management, strategic planning, and fostering a positive, inclusive school culture.
* Excellent Communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with learners, families, staff, and external partners.
* Relevant degree in Education, Special Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field; advanced qualifications are an advantage.
* Experience working with autistic and neurodivergent children, and familiarity with inclusive and trauma-informed educational practices.
* Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with capacity to manage multiple priorities in a school setting.
* Commitment to safeguarding, ethical practice, and continuous professional development.
