Job Description


Applications are invited from knowledgeable, experienced and skilled candidates to fill the position of Group Head of Financial Performance at FMB capital Holdings plc, in Blantyre, Malawi, with oversight across the Company’s six operations (the Group).
Report to the Group Chief Finance Officer (CFO) the candidate will provide strategic and tactical support to the Group’s finance agenda. The candidate will be required to identify and analyse key performance drivers, system improvements, enhancements and process optimisation as well as define Group principles for performance optimisation, planning and management. This role will influence management accounting, planning and financial performance management processes across the FMBCH Group footprint

Duties and Responsibilities


• Standardisation of Groupwide management accounting structure (CoA, classification, monthly quality close).
• General Ledger harmonization and ERP selection, implementation and integration into Groupwide systems architecture.
• Financial performance analysis with key data driven insights systematically incorporated.
• Tax compliance health, management and optimization.
• Investor relations data compilation and corporate financial analysis support.
• Financial planning: forecasting, budgeting, strategic.
Skills, Knowledge and Competencies
• Financial risk management knowledge particular for the banking and finance sector across SADC
• Strong IFRS knowledge, particularly for financial instruments
• A strong understanding of banking and financial services’ balance sheet structures, treasury management, and financial modelling as well as well-honed influencing skills in a multi geographic context as well as regulatory frameworks is vital.
• Tax principles and frameworks knowledge for the Group’s footprint, at a minimum
• Treasury, funding and balance sheet management skills
• Demonstrated knowledge in cost structures, performance management, activity based and other methodologies for cost management and budgeting
• Excellent presentation skills
• Deep, self-awareness and interpersonal skills
• Critical thinking skills
• Report writing skills

Qualifications and Experience


• An internationally recognized Chartered Accountant qualification
• A degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce and / or an MBA or equivalent
• CFA or related treasury skillset will be an added advantage
• Good computing and technology tool use skills – especially financial engineering, modelling, model-building, data interrogation, manipulation and review
• Registered member of a recognized professional body
