Zvitambo is an internationally recognized multidisciplinary public health research institute with the mission of improving maternal and child health in Zimbabwe, and to apply its findings to improve health globally. We work in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Child Care to conduct research and provides technical support and education to reduce the burden of malnutrition and infectious diseases, and also give children a good start in life. Zvitambo is registered as a non-profit company with the Ministry of Justice, and operates from a head office in Harare, and a field site in Shurugwi.
1 VEHICLE CARE & MAINTANANCE
1.1 Performs pre and post trip inspection of the vehicle.
1.2 Documents and reports any mechanical or safety issues.
1.3 Cleans/washes vehicles.
1.4 Fuels all vehicles.
1.5 Keeps track of vehicle problems requiring attention and making sure that they are attended to timeously.
1.6 Keeps track of vehicle maintenance and service record.
1.7 Advises the Field Logistician when vehicles are due for service and complete vehicle service forms.
1.8 Acts as a steward of all Zvitambo financial assets related to transportation.
2. COORDINATE WORK ACTIVITIES
2.1 Transports safely study teams to and from designated points.
2.2 Operates vehicle in a safe manner in compliance with traffic regulations.
2.3 Sets up study equipment (e.g. tents, chairs, generator).
2.4 Conducts driving competency tests on new drivers and eligible staff.
2.5 Provides continuous mentorship to inexperienced drivers.
2.6 Delivers mail, intervention products, medicines, samples and CHWs’ hampers.
2.7 Transports samples timeously to the lab.
3. PROCUREMENT & PURCHASING
3.1 Submits receipts/coupon receipts to the Field Logistician after refueling the vehicle
3.2 Raise internal requisition to refuel vehicles
3. ENSURING SAFETY OF PASSENGERS
3.1 Instructs passengers to use safety belts
3.2 Adopts lawful practices whilst driving (e.g. no speeding, avoiding poor judgements, phone malpractice, no drink & drive motto and adequate rest).
SCHOOL EDUCATION
• 5 Ordinary Levels
POST SCHOOL QUALIFICATIONS
• Clean Class 4 Drivers licence (Possession of Class 2 is an added advantage)
• Possession of a valid defensive driving certificate added advantage
• Advanced mechanic training an added advantage
EXPERIENCE
• A minimum of 2 years continuous driving experience preferably in off-road environments.
• Experience in Logistics department operations and fleet management is an added advantage
