Job Description

The National University of Science and Technology invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons for the post of Deputy Registrar – Academic Affairs that has arisen at the University.
Reporting to the Registrar, the Deputy Registrar – Academic Affairs is the head of Academic Registry whose mandate is to provide strategic advice, guidance and leadership across the institution on all aspects of Academic Registry and ensure that policies and procedures are properly implemented.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain appropriate regulations on student admissions, registration, student records management, assessment and examination process;
• . Implement academic administrative policies and regulations in accordance with the University’s strategy and Education 5.0;
• Set and broadcast examination and academic timetables, and update the Year Book;
• Ensure the effective and efficient operation of the Academic Registry, including: Admissions, Examinations, Registration, Student Records, Certification and Graduation;
• Liaise with Faculties, Teaching Departments and other appropriate Departments and Sections of the University, as well as with related organizations outside the University;
• Handle enquiries and queries of an academic nature;
• Service various Committees and Working Parties, as well as attending appropriate Committees;
• Undertake ad hoc tasks delegated by the Registrar, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications
The ideal candidate must have a Masters’ degree in Administration or related field plus five (5) years’ post qualification administrative experience in a University setting. An earned PhD/DPhil degree will be an added advantage. Competence in University Information and Communication Systems (ICT) is essential.
Skills and Attributes
This is a senior position that requires a mature, hardworking, and reliable professional with all-round experience. Ability to operate at a strategic level, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to draft policies and procedures, and to work independently in resolving academic registry issues; and good writing skills are essential.
