Job Description
CLASS 1 SEWING MACHINE MECHANIC
Job Purpose
To maintain, service, troubleshoot, and repair industrial sewing and associated production equipment to ensure optimum machine availability, productivity, and product quality.
Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on industrial sewing machinery,
• Diagnose and repair machine breakdowns efficiently,
• Conduct machine inspections and adjustments to improve performance,
• Maintain records of maintenance activities and spare parts usage,
• Work closely with production personnel to minimise downtime,
• Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment,
• Coordinate maintenance activities and provide technical guidance where required,
• Ensure compliance with safety and housekeeping standards.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
• Class 1 Sewing Machine Mechanic qualification,
• Demonstrated experience in industrial sewing machine maintenance,
• Ability to work independently and achieve maintenance targets,
• Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills,
• Valid clean driver's licence will be an added advantage.
Essential Technical Knowledge
Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in the maintenance and repair of:
• Industrial Post Machines,
• Ordinary Flat Bed Machines,
• Conveyor and Eyeletting Equipment,
• Heavy-Duty Stitch-Down Machines.
