Job Description

With financial support from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and Kindernothilfe (KNH), Childline Zimbabwe is seeking the services of an Auditor / Audit firm to carry out end of project audit for Project 76406 – Preparatory Project for Drug & Substance Abuse for the 15-month period, 15th May 2023 to 14th August 2024 and express an opinion on the financial presentation of the project by the organisation.

Duties and Responsibilities

The objective of this assignment is for the Auditor to verify that the expenditure claimed by the Childline Zimbabwe in the Financial Report for the project has occurred, is accurate and eligible and to submit to Childline a report of factual findings with regard to the agreed-upon procedures performed. Eligibility means that the funds provided by the grant have been spent in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Project Agreement.
The objective is further to obtain reasonable assurance whether Childline’s Financial Report is free from material misstatement, whether due to fraud or error, thereby enabling the Auditor to express an opinion on whether the financial report was prepared, in all material aspects, in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted in Zimbabwe and terms of reference (TOR) for performing audits of financial reports of projects that are grant-funded by the German federal ministry for economic cooperation and development (BMZ).

Qualifications and Experience

The BMZ sets a 5-year limit for working with same auditor. This means that any auditor, with whom Childline Zimbabwe already has a contractual relationship at the time of awarding the BMZ-audit contract, must be excluded from this assignment. Furthermore, the auditor must not have worked for Childline Zimbabwe in the three years prior to the conclusion of the BMZ audit contract and there must be no kinship, friendship or other relationships between Childline Zimbabwe and the auditor that stand in the way of an independent, objective and unbiased execution of the assignment.
The Auditor / Auditing firm will be required to provide evidence of his/her professional qualifications / registration and membership in a nationally recognized body of auditors.
The Auditor is expected to meet at least one of the following conditions:
● The Auditor and/or the firm is/are a member of a national accounting or auditing body or institution which in turn is a member of the
International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).
● The Auditor and/or the firm is/are a member of a national accounting or auditing body or institution. Although this organisation is not a
member of the IFAC, the Auditor commits him/herself to undertake this engagement in accordance with the IFAC standards and ethics.

The Auditor / Auditing firm is expected to submit an expression of interest indicating the estimated cost of assignment and validity of the quotation.

▪ In the case of a firm, submit Curriculum Vitae of consultant and all involved as well as the following additional documents: Auditor/ Firm
profile, physical address, telephone numbers, contact person of the firm; copy of registration, names of Directors/Proprietors and valid tax
clearance certificate.
▪ Documentation of any work previously conducted by the Auditor / Auditing firm.
▪ Application documents must be submitted in PDF format and may not exceed 5 MB in size
