Job Description

We are a material science and engineering company involved in the manufacturing of specialized materials such as adhesives, coatings and sealants for use in infrastructure development (construction and rehabilitation) as well as in the mining industry. The business operates two divisions, the DIY (Do It Yourself, within the retail business) and Industrial (institutional business i.e. construction and mining industry).

We require the services of an efficient, well organized, self-motivated, dynamic and multi-skilled team leader to join as a Business Development Executive (BDE). The successful incumbent will be based at our Harare office with a mandate of developing a robust domestic and Southern African regional market. In addition, the BDE will focus on customer acquisition, lead generation, and prospect management, as this role will garner and meet with potential clients.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
▪ Developing customized targeted sales strategies split by division (DIY & Industrial), by key accounts and by location (local and regional);
▪ Ensuring a measurable increase in market share locally and within SADC region;
▪ Developing a penetration strategy for SADC region targeting export sales for both DIY and Industrial;
▪ Identifying and securing business opportunities;
▪ Coordinating business generation activities;
▪ Conducting regular product knowledge training for existing and potential clients;
▪ Understanding client needs and offering solutions and support;
▪ Reviewing clients feedback and liaising with management to implement the necessary changes;
▪ Answering potential and existing client questions and follow-up call questions;
▪ Responding to client requests for proposals (RFPs);
▪ Collaborating with sales and leadership to secure, retain, and grow key sales accounts;
▪ Creating informative presentations and marketing materials;
▪ Presenting and delivering information to potential clients at client meetings, industry exhibits, trade shows, and conferences;
▪ Attending and participating in key local and regional industry exhibitions, trade shows and conferences;
▪ Creating and maintaining a database of prospective clients;
▪ Cold calling and making multiple outbound calls to potential clients;
▪ Closing sales and working with the client through the closing process;
▪ Meeting all quotas for cold, active, inactive calls, appointments, and interviews;
▪ Meeting or exceeding annual sales goals;
▪ Maintaining a pipeline of prospective sales deals;
▪ Collaborating with management on sales goals, planning, and forecasting; and
▪ Maintaining short, medium and long-term business development plans.

Qualifications and Experience

Skills / Qualifications:
▪ Possess excellent written and spoken English (including presentation skills);
▪ Able to provide quality leadership to a team of sales personnel;
▪ Strong communication and ICT fluency;
▪ Ability to solve tough problems, handle pressure and meet deadlines;
▪ Attention to detail;
▪ Experience with lead generation and prospect management;
▪ Persuasive and goal-oriented;
▪ Self-driven, intuitive and insightful;
▪ Possesses an energetic, outgoing, and friendly demeanour;
▪ Able to professionally and confidently communicate with other Executives;
▪ Excellent analytical and time-management skills;
▪ Marketing / Relevant under graduate degree or ; and
▪ Relevant post graduate degree and technical background is an added advantage.

Experience:
▪ Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the same or similar position;
▪ In-depth knowledge of the industry and its current events; and
▪ Demonstrated and proven sales results.
