Qualifications and Experience
• Applicants should have a degree in Library and Information Section (LIS) or a degree in any discipline PLUS a Postgraduate Diploma in LIS.
• A Masters’ degree in LIS would be an added advantage. At least five years of experience in an academic Library is required.
• The successful candidate would be expected to demonstrate a very good understanding of the HIT mandate and a broad technical knowledge and expertise in Library Acquisitions functions and Bibliographic control in managing the University’s holdings.
• He or she should have a good grasp of current trends in online and internet publishing, a good knowledge of local and overseas based publishers, booksellers, enders and distributors, a good understanding of licensing agreements, print and electronic subscriptions; a good knowledge of Intellectual Property and Copyright legislation in information use and good analytical, report writing and communication skills.
