About Municipality of Chinhoyi

The historical development of the municipality can be traced back to the last quarter of the 19th century during the colonial era. In about 1893 there was so much activity in and around Chinhoyi as people were searching for gold and other minerals and it became necessary to establish some sort of control in the area and a Police Post was established on the site of the present day Chinhoyi, it was called Sinoia by then.
