About LOCAL AUTHORITIES PENSION FUND

The Fund has a dual board structure made of the Board Of Trustees established in terms of section 5 of the Local Authorities Employees (Pension Schemes) (Board Of Trustees) Regulations, 1978 as per Government notice No. 350 of 1978 and the Management Committee established in terms of the Local Authorities Employees (Pension Schemes) (Management Committee) Rules, 1978.

There are a total of 8 trustees, consisting of an independent Chairman who is appointed by the Minister (of Local Government) from a list of three names supplied by other trustees. The remaining trustees making up the Board Of Trustees are elected or appointed by local authorities in accordance with the following pattern:
