Chitungwiza Central Hospital is Government institution located in Chitungwiza town which is about thirty kilometers south east of Harare city. The hospital was opened in 1984 as a provincial hospital. The hospital was officially opened by the then Prime Minister R.G. Mugabe on 6th November 1986. Chitungwiza hospital was upgraded to a central hospital in September 2005. It now offers tertiary level of health care delivery services. The hospital is a 500 bedded hospital. The hospital attained ISO (International Organization of Standardization) in 2008 and retained the certificate to date. In 2014 the hospital won the first prize in the Best Service Provider category at the National Annual Quality Awards (NAQA) organized by SAZ and its partners. The hospital’s catchment area includes Chitungwiza town, neighboring farms, Epworth and the whole of Mashonaland East Province.
