Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Business Department for a Youth Programmes Manager. The successful candidate shall be expected to lead, grow, and manage the Youth Empowerment segment by driving the Microbank’s youth-focused business growth strategy.

Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership
• Develop and implement a Youth Empowerment Growth Strategy, covering youth lending, savings mobilisation, and empowerment
programs.
• Segment the youth market (students, start-up founders, informal traders, NEETs, rural vs. urban youth) and design targeted products and
interventions.
• Ensure alignment of youth programs with national youth policies, government empowerment priorities, and ministry-level expectations.
• Provide strategic insights to senior management on youth financial inclusion trends and opportunities.

Business Growth & Portfolio Management
• Drive acquisition, retention, and growth of youth clients across all regions.
• Develop lending and savings products tailored for youths and NEETs.
• Manage the youth loan portfolio quality, ensuring sustainable portfolio performance and early risk detection.
• Set and track monthly/quarterly performance targets for the segment.

Youth Empowerment & Capacity Building
• Coordinate financial literacy, entrepreneurship training, and business development support for youths.
• Develop partnerships with training institutions, NGOs, incubators, and government agencies to deliver capacity-building programs.
• Champion skills development, employability pathways, and enterprise creation for NEETs.

Stakeholder Engagement
• Serve as the primary liaison between the Microbank and the Ministry of Youth regarding youth empowerment initiatives.
• Build relationships with youth organisations, community leaders, schools, tertiary institutions, and development partners.
• Represent the Microbank in national youth empowerment forums, policy discussions, and government-led programs.

Operational Management
• Lead and supervise Youth Officers / Field Advisors assigned to the program.
• Develop workplans, budgets, and activity schedules for youth outreach programs.
• Document and report on youth program results, portfolio performance, challenges, and opportunities.

Compliance, Governance & Risk
• Ensure all youth financing activities comply with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and ethical standards.
• Implement risk mitigation strategies for youth and NEET lending, balancing empowerment with credit quality.
• Promote responsible youth lending practices and safeguard vulnerable youth groups.

Marketing & Brand Visibility
Ensure effective marketing of the EmpowerBank brand

Qualifications and Experience

A degree in Accounting, Banking & Finance, Economics or related business degree.
8 years of professional credit and retail experience and 5 years of which should be at managerial level;
• Experience in banking in a managerial capacity.
• Excellent skills in lending processes and debt recovery
• Strong managerial, business development, analytical and research skills
