Job Description

The central role of the Youth Engagement Officer is to support adolescents and young people aged 14-24 to gain innovation and business skills for the development of appropriate home-bred innovations and technologies to power up social, economic and environmental impact for their communities.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Support to the Social Innovation Hub through ensuring that the adolescents and youth engagement strategy is operationalized
- Complete a mapping exercise of schools, universities, and NGOs working on youth issues towards liaising with youth, and promoting registration.
-Strengthen the Innovation Hub to conduct innovation workshops and event based activities.
- Support the creation and coordination of a new youth research programme to enable youth participants to submit projects proposals and innovations for Innovation Challenges at the Hub
- Support the knowledge management team to document lessons learnt and good practices on the innovation initiatives.
- Develop communication materials for knowledge dissemination, including managing a bilingual online documentation platform.
- Online knowledge dissemination platform and content management on a regular basis.

Qualifications and Experience

- A first University Degree in one of the following fields: social sciences, business development, entrepreneurship and innovation
- At least 2-3 years of experience in a youth network or NGO, preferably in the field of youth participation.
-Capacity to lobby and persuade stakeholders to partner with the Innovation Hub
-Capacity to liaise and work collaboratively with service providers, networks, government, community and young people.
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
- Strong communication skills both oral and written .
- Familiarity with using social media platforms
-Below the age of 35 years
