Job Summary


One of our clients in the transport and logistics sector is looking for a workshop technical manager. The incumbent will be responsible for managing and motivating all workshop staff and other personnel involved in delivering high level quality service and repairs in order to
ensure growth and expansion to achieve targets.

Duties and Responsibilities


Supervise the maintenance and repair of all of the vehicle fleet, including Tractor Trailers, Reach Stackers, and other technical support equipment (electrical, electronic and mechanical) ensuring that overhauls, preventative maintenance and repair are done in a cost effective manner, with attention given to quality and longer duration of equipment.
Ensure that the equipment is maintained in a safe and reliable working condition in accordance with planned preventive
maintenance program and to identify and rectify repetitive problems.
Maintain an effective safety program, coordinating safety training with Departments; ensures all injuries are reported
timely, properly investigated, measures taken to prevent future injuries and good housekeeping practices throughout
the workshop.
Review new equipment for suitability and make recommendations, based on cost, availability, and needs of business
operations.
Ensure that planning, scheduling, and unscheduled repairs are carried out efficiently and cost effectively, with quality service.
Oversees the administrative requirements of the Workshop, including warranty obligations, inspection records, manual updates,
equipment defect reports, maintenance services, policies, procedures, and practices.

Qualifications and Experience


Mechanical or Electrical engineering, or related field. Degree in management, business or
related
Requires at least 5 to 7 years of general supervisory experience in general maintenance in workshops
Requires specific technical knowledge of maintenance and repair of various vehicles, including tractor trailers,

Skills
Good management skills
Good communication skills
Good technical skills
Knowledge of workshops
