Job Description
The successful candidate will report to the Fabrication Chargehand and will be responsible for carrying out welding, fabrication, repairs and refurbishment of industrial equipment and machinery ensuring quality workmanship, safety and adherence to required standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Perform welding, structural fabrication, repairs and modifications on industrial machinery and equipment including haul bins, tipper bins, trailer systems and other fabricated structures.
• Carry out repairs, refurbishment and rebuilds of machinery components, including harvester components, excavator and loader buckets and other yellow-machine attachments.
• Undertake hard-facing and wear-resistant welding on harvesters, buckets and other machine components.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, specifications and equipment manuals to ensure work is completed accurately and to the required standards.
• Select and use appropriate welding processes, consumables, tools and equipment, including welding machines, cutting equipment and grinders.
• Prepare, fit, align, tack and weld components and inspect completed welds to identify and rectify defects.
• Support planned maintenance and breakdown repairs by providing practical welding and fabrication solutions.
• Maintain welding equipment, tools and materials in good working condition and ensure proper use and availability.
• Comply with all health, safety and environmental requirements, including correct use of PPE and safe handling of welding equipment and gases.
• Maintain good housekeeping and ensure work areas are clean, safe and organised.
Qualifications and Experience
• N.C in Fabrication Engineering.
• Apprentice Trained Journeyman Class 1 Welder with 3 years working experience.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• A team player.
