About
Founded in the Netherlands in 1998 Young Africa (YA) currently operates nine Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) centers in five countries as a confederation of independently and locally registered affiliated organizations. Each Affiliate operates TVET – Centre(s), youth (self-) employment programs and community activities. The Head office of YA is in Harare, Zimbabwe, with an office in The Netherlands. The YA confederation coordinates multiple projects (implemented through the nine centers) and project teams include members based at YA Head Office in Zimbabwe, at YA office in The Netherlands and at Affiliate offices in the respective countries of operation.

Background of assignment
Young Africa International (YAI) has been working as an implementing partner of a project funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (EKN), the Covid-19 Emergency Response project. The project focuses on providing emergency relief as well as providing more sustained interventions that will increase the resilience of target beneficiaries to respond to the economic and social shocks brought about by Covid-19.

Duties and Responsibilities

Objective of assignment
The overall objective of this consultancy is to produce 5, short high-definition video documentaries and high-resolution photographs that can be used in various communications platforms. The videos must be able to express personal stories of most significant changes from project participants at national and community level in Epworth, Chitungwiza and Karoi.

Expected deliverables
The successful candidate shall commence the work immediately after signing the contract. Working with YAI Grants Coordinator and Communications team, the individual / firm is expected to: Produce a detailed timeline (development, production, post-production and packaging of the video documentaries) and draft outline should be submitted within 2 days after the inception meeting; Undertake a comprehensive review of relevant documents to guide the documentary; Undertake field visits and interview selected interviewees for the documentary who will include beneficiaries, and local officials; 5 short videos (2-4 minutes) for sharing on social media with clear narratives and subtitles; Produce the script and voice over for the videos; High-resolution photographs.

Packaging of the video documentary
The video documentary should be packaged in the following format: High resolution format on DVD; High resolution electronic storage format; Web size format for uploading to online media; Mobile web-size format for viewing on mobile devices.

Terms of payment
Payments by the organization are delivery-based. Any deliverable not meeting the required specifications will have to be reworked and resubmitted at no additional cost to the organization. Based on satisfactory performance, payments will be approved by the Finance Director.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications and experience
More than 5 years' experience working in similar field; Extensive experience in producing development work documentaries for international organizations with the aim of reaching both local and international audiences; Local knowledge of the provinces and languages in Zimbabwe; Excellent technical capacities, access to highest quality filming, light, sound and editing equipment to ensure smooth and high - quality production; Ability to operate under strict time limits and apply high production and technical standards for the purpose of maintaining high level of professionalism; Excellent writing and editing skills; Demonstrable understanding of and commitment to promoting gender equity, diversity and the interests of the marginalized people.
