Job Description

Unicaf University a pan-African university with a physical presence in 12 countries is seeking to appoint a Vice Chancellor for its Zimbabwe campus. The Vice-Chancellor will be responsible and accountable to the Board and the CEO.

The successful candidate will be reporting to the University Council / CEO and keeping a healthy cooperation between the Institution and its stakeholders while engaging and inspiring students and staff. The Vice Chancellor will facilitate and contribute to the careful planning of the strategy and make sure that the University has a clear path towards excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Promoting the development of learning and teaching, including their quality
and enhancement, across the range of provision associated with the University;
• Ensuring compliance within the University regulations in relation
to all academic, employment, professional and statutory bodies, and other matters;
• Encouraging and promoting innovation and knowledge transfer as appropriate
within the University;
• To promote the University as a place of international repute in which to study,
research and work and encourage international collaboration and exchange;
• To promote the well-being of all staff and students, fostering a culture of
respect in all aspects of operation and leading, supporting and being sensitive
to the different needs of students irrespective of their location or mode of
study;
• To play an active role in the recruitment and appointment of high calibre staff to
the University;
• To represent and promote the interests and values of the University internally and externally;
• Lead the University in areas of responsibility;
• Participate in developing and delivering the University's strategy;
• Liaison, where appropriate, with all pertinent regulators of the country;
• Developing appropriate plans and strategies for the University for approval by
the Board and to manage the resources of the University to fulfil the
objectives identified therein;
• Carry out certain important ceremonial and civic duties.

Qualifications and Experience

• Holder of a PhD degree or equivalent
• A minimum of 5 years senior-level management experience
• Good publications record
