Job Description

1). Background and Introduction
Zimbabwe Health Interventions (ZHI) is a not-for-profit human development organization which is registered as a Trust under the Zimbabwe Deeds Registries Act (Chapter 20:05). ZHI’s mission is to develop and deliver innovative and sustainable high impact integrated health interventions with local communities while working with and strengthening existing institutions.

ZHI PROJECTS
A) Accelerated and Comprehensive HIV Care for Epidemic Control (ACCE)
Project Summary
The objective of the Accelerated and Comprehensive HIV Care for Epidemic Control in Zimbabwe (ACCE) project is to complement the government of Zimbabwe (GOZ)’s efforts towards epidemic control by targeting testing to efficiently identify PLHIV, ensuring all newly diagnosed PLHIV are immediately linked to treatment, and all PLHIV on treatment have ready access to antiretroviral therapy (ART), are retained on treatment, and remain virally suppressed. The program is being implemented in 9 districts in Midlands (Gweru, Kwekwe, Mberengwa and Gokwe South) and in Manicaland (Makoni, Mutare, Chipinge, Mutasa and Buhera).

B) Re-Ignite, Innovate, Sustain Evidence Based Interventions for HIV Prevention (RISE)
Project Summary
The Determined, Resilient, Empowered, AIDS-free, Mentored, and Safe women (DREAMS) Program aims to prevent new HIV infections and reduce vulnerability among OVC, OVC caregivers and Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) in Zimbabwe. ZHI’s primary role is to deliver a comprehensive curriculum on HIV prevention, gender norms and social asset building targeted at AGYW in school, out of school and their sexual partners at community level. ZHI’s core thrust in the DREAMS Program is to keep girls and young women HIV Free through supporting them to; Stay in school; Prevent early pregnancies; Prevent sexual violence; Access Post violence care; Reduce child marriage. DREAMS provides a comprehensive, multi-sectoral package of core interventions to address key factors that make girls and young women particularly vulnerable to HIV. These include structural factors, such as gender-based violence, exclusion from economic opportunities, and a lack of access to secondary school. DREAMS layers multiple interventions at once so that AGYW are surrounded with critical support to keep them safe from HIV and other risks.
The program is being implemented in 6 high HIV burden, partial maintenance districts (Bulawayo, Chipinge, Gweru, Makoni, Mazowe and Mutare) and 6 expansion districts (Beitbridge, Bulilima, Gwanda, Insiza, Mangwe and Matobo).

2). Main Objective of the Consultancy
The main objective of the assignment is to facilitate and moderate a half day team building retreat, for the ZHI Management and its Board members.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Specific objectives of Team Building Consultancy are to:
• Identify challenges that exist within Senior Management Team (SMT).
• Assess the team development stage the team is currently at.
• Instilling the values of the organization within the SMT (refer to core values listed above).
• Fostering an appreciation of diversity, personality, capabilities, and roles.
• Creating good working relations and synergies across all projects and departments within the organization.
• Encourage communication and teamwork.
• Improve morale and engagement.
• To help the team identify challenges that inhibit the team from delivering the mandate of the organization.
• To provide recommendations for addressing the identified challenges.

Expected Outcomes
• Create an environment where the members become one unit that can defend one another.
• Increased empathy, a human face and be respectful as you manage subordinates.
• Improved communication and teamwork between ZHI SMT.
• Improved morale and engagement.
• Create a culture where leadership work as one unit rather than silos.
• Re-energized and motivated Leadership staff and Board members with improved innovation and creativity.
• Identify potential issues that may cause problems within Leadership.
• Addressing those issues, removing the inhibitors, and providing an enabling environment.
• Come up with recommendations to improve the overall effectiveness of ZHI Leadership team and Board members.

3). Scope of work
The consultant will be required to work with the HR Director and the organization Leadership to successfully deliver on these activities.

The scope of the work will be to facilitate a half-day team building session and to compile reports outlining the workshop's proceedings, including practical recommendations and operational tools which can be used by the team in the future.

4). Duration of assignment, duty station and expected places of travel
The assignment will be to facilitate a half day team building session for ZHI Leadership as follows:
• Half day team building session for 18 ZHI leadership members
• Location will be Kariba on the 09th of December 2022.

5). Expected deliverables & outcomes
Deliverables:
a. Preparation of team building exercise:
o A customized training and team building plan clearly articulating the objectives of the team building exercise.
o Interactive and flexible facilitation tools and material aids for brainstorming prepared prior to the workshop.

b. Facilitation of teambuilding exercise:
o A brain storming session aimed at identifying the mandates and harmonization of the activities of the ZHI Team;
o A brain storming session on how to improve the efficiency and the operations of the organization.

c. A brief report outlining;
o The retreat proceedings and key outcomes;
o Strategic recommendations for ZHI to improve teamwork and overall organizational effectiveness.

The team building session should be creatively organized to meet the above expected outcomes and deliverables as well as improve the leadership’s performance through the building of an effective leadership team.

The facilitator is expected to design this process and to assign time frames to it. S/He will get the assistance of the HR Director with regards to logistical arrangements towards the holding of this exercise.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications and Experience
• The lead consultant should have an advanced degree preferably in Organizational Psychology/ Organizational Development/Human Resource management.
• Proven experience of organizational change management, organizational development and team building.
• Demonstrated knowledge and advanced skills and at least 8 years of previous experience in the preparation of Team Building for medium and large-scale organizations , preferably NGOs, UN etc
• Excellent facilitation and communication skills in English (oral and written)
• Excellent rapporteuring and analytical skills necessary for capturing the reviews and suggestions that will emerge from the interactive sessions during the exercise
• Flexible nature and ability to adapt to changing directions/thinking that may occur during the Retreat
• Excellent interpersonal skills
