Job Description

Terms of reference
Scope of Work – Supply and install, and commission twenty-one (21) nipple drinker lines, each
measuring 60 metres, complete with a Dosatron medicator panel. Fowl Run size is 60 metres x
10metres.
Project Title:
Supply, delivery, installation & commissioning of twenty-one (21) nipple drinker lines, each
measuring 60 metres, complete with a Dosatron medicator panel in Tongogara Refugee Settlement
which is 165km from Mutare and 420km from Harare in Chipinge District.
Implementing Partner:
World Vision Zimbabwe – Tongogara Refugee Settlement
Target Beneficiaries:
70 participating farmers for the poultry project
1. Project Objective.
The intervention aims to improve availability of clean water at all the times to the birds both at day
and night.
1.1 Improved Water Hygiene
• Modern drinkers (such as nipple drinkers) minimize water contamination because birds
cannot step into or spill water.
• Reduces the risk of bacterial growth and disease transmission, leading to healthier flocks.
1.2. Reduced Water Wastage
• Nipple drinkers and medicator systems deliver water directly to the bird’s beak, preventing
spillage.
• Saves water costs and reduces wet litter problems, which can cause ammonia buildup and
footpad dermatitis.
1.3 . Consistent Water Supply
• Automated drinker systems ensure birds have continuous access to clean water.
• Supports optimal growth and feed conversion rates, especially in large-scale operations.
1.4. Labor Efficiency
• Less time spent cleaning and refilling traditional troughs or open drinkers.
• Allows staff to focus on other critical tasks like monitoring flock health and feed
management.
1.5. Better Litter Quality
• Dry litter reduces odor, ammonia, and disease risks.
• Improves bird comfort and reduces culling due to foot problems.
1.6. Medication and Supplement Integration
• Modern systems often include medicator panels (e.g., Dosatron) for easy administration of
vitamins, vaccines, or treatments through water.
• Ensures accurate dosing and uniform distribution across the flock.
1.7. Scalability and Automation
• Suitable for climate-resilient poultry houses and large fowl runs.
• Can be integrated with automated monitoring systems for water pressure and flow.
1. Project Overview
The purpose of this assignment is to supply, install, and commission twenty-one (21) nipple drinker
lines, each measuring 60 metres , complete with a Dosatron medicator panel, pressure regulation
systems, and a fully functional manual winch and pulley mechanism for height adjustment. The
system must support efficient water delivery, medication dosing, and optimal poultry house
management.
