Job Description

Youth Advocates is a youth-led organization working to advance adolescents’ and youth rights and amplify their voices where it matters. With a mission of empowering adolescents and young people through knowledge, skills, opportunities, and resources for healthy fulfilling lives. Youth Advocates builds on extensive experience leading youth-driven projects within the development and humanitarian field pioneering innovative technology and approaches in adolescents and communities-centered programs.

With funding from UNICEF, Youth Advocates is implementing a pilot project Titled “Simuka UpenyeKuda Vana: Building bridges through positive norms to address Violence Against Children”. The project adopts a human-centered design to support and strengthen children’s confidence, competencies, and skills to be able to identify, prevent and report cases of violence against children (VAC). The project is being implemented in 10 districts and builds on and innovates existing successful parenting and gender transformation models that integrate adolescent participation, and family approaches in addressing social norms that perpetuate VAC and leverage positive norms that can be used to address the matter.

Duties and Responsibilities

Scope of Work
The Consultant will carry out, inter alia, the following tasks:
1. Develop Facilitators Manual and Related support materials The consultant will have to synthesize available relevant manuals and develop and contextualize them for community session delivery. The manual should be able to demonstrate how the delivery of sessions will contribute to the desired change in addressing norms and values that perpetuate VAC
and how communities including children can champion positive norms in addressing exploitation and abuse. Manualshould have pre- and post-evaluationsthat will be used to measure the knowledge levels of both children and caregivers about VAC.

2. Training of Trainer
After the development of the manual, the consultant will conduct capacity-building on how to effectively deliver sessions in the communities for measurable results.

Qualifications and Experience

REQUIREMENTS
• Traceable reference and previous work on similar assignments.
• Fluency in English and knowledge of the local language (Shona and Ndebele) is an added advantage.
• A minimum of 5 years of practical professional work experience in the following areas: Child Protection, Gender, and Development
