Engagement Of An It Specialist To Assist With Expansion And Upgrading Of The Yaz E-Learning Management System

YA does this through imparting to youth skills of the hands to make them self-reliant, skills of the heart and mind to help them live with dignity and skills of the soul to help them live with a purpose.
Young Africa Zimbabwe delivers its programme (the integral approach to youth development), which is based on the conviction that for young people to reach their full potential they have to develop in a holistic way. This is why life skills, entrepreneurship skills training, and talent development are integrated in all of YA Vocational Training Courses. The integral approach to youth development addresses the multi-dimensional nature of the development needs of young people (i.e., economic, social, and emotional) in a highly synchronized way.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. OBJECTIVE AND SCOPE OF WORK
The aim of the assignment is to review, expand and upgrade the YAZ E-learning System to strengthen capacity and delivery of TVET training via the E-learning management system. The IT specialist will assist with carrying out the implementation of the assignment working closely with the trainers and industry experts for the educational and technical developments required.
1a) TARGET AUDIENCE
As a Technical Vocational Education Training institution, our immediate target audience is our training staff and students. Therefore, the platform will be used by trainers, students, and other key personnel for monitoring purposes. The platform will be used for production of e-learning training material, knowledge and information sharing as well as offering other relevant soft skills that enhance career development.
2. PLATFORM FEATURES AND EXPECTATIONS
a) State of the art platform
The platform should be feature-rich and able to stay up to date with the ever-changing Learning & Development landscape. Expected functionalities should include easy and interactive navigation through the course lessons, ability to set and take up assignments and display course progress. Most features should be automated.
b) Content Compatibility
The platform should be flexible, easily customizable, able to easily upload existing training materials or build courses from scratch while remaining user-friendly. It should cater for various content formats such as word, videos, animations, PowerPoints and provide for the trainers to be able to upload the various content formats easily onto the platform.
3. Expected Deliverables
(i) System Upgrade and supporting Implementation
- Conduct system requirements for development or customization of the e-learning to match the training needs at Young Africa Zimbabwe
(ii) Support e-learning content development
- Work with the TVET Principal and trainers in development of e-learning material, uploading of learning material and support the production of interactive TVET training content (audio-visual material)
(iii) System delivery
- Knowledge transfer through workshop/training for both technical skills trainers and non-technical skills trainers
- Delivery of the final version of the e-learning system
- Production of technical documentation and user manual for E-learning

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications
Education
Post-graduate studies in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related field. A qualification in Information Security & Assurance (ISA) will be an added advantage
Experience
At least four years of working experience developing and implementing e-Learning programs and curriculum, including web-based and computer-based trainings; Experience in working in developing standard e-Learning development tools. Strong knowledge of emerging e-Learning theories, concepts, and standards.
Competencies:
Excellent oral and written communication skills; excellent written and spoken knowledge of English.
