Job Description

TENDER FOR THE STUDY OF KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDE, AND PRACTICES ASSOCIATED WITH NON-COMMUNICABLE DISEASES UNDER EARLY LIFE PREVENTION OF NON-COMMUNICABLE DISEASES RISK FACTORS AND STRENGTHENING PRIMARY HEALTHCARE AND HEALTH SYSTEMS.

World Vision International Zimbabwe is implementing an early life prevention of non-communicable diseases risk factors and strengthening primary healthcare and health systems project funded by UNICEF and is inviting tenders from reputable individuals/organizations to submit bids for the study of knowledge, attitude, and practices associated with non-communicable diseases. The project will contribute to the reduction of non-communicable diseases-related morbidity and mortality rates for children.

Duties and Responsibilities

Study objectives
The study seeks to answer the following specific objectives:
• Identify and characterise the key risk factors, including context-specific practices, socio-cultural norms, beliefs and behavioural factors for NCDs among Adolescents in the 4 districts
• Understand the knowledge gaps, attitudes and practices associated with NCDs amongst adolescents
• Establish the key determinants associated with NCDs amongst adolescents
• Identify dietary practices that are risk factors for NCDs
• Identify key behaviors, target audiences, and the enabling factors to include in behavior change programming to improve on prevention of NCDs
• Multivariate analysis to understand the determinants of NCDs including nutrition related factors among adolescents.

Qualifications and Experience

6.0 STUDY TEAM COMPOSITION
The survey will be conducted during the months of March to April 2025 for a duration of approximately 20 days. The consultant for the study will be chosen based on her/his knowledge of Health related interventions. The consultant must have experience in conducting KAP surveys in the health field. The consultant and World Vision MEAL staff will collaborate in the hiring and training of enumerators who will collect data under their supervision. The consultant will have the responsibility of hiring, and training of the enumerators on the tools and data collection processes.
The survey team will consist of a Team leader, Health specialist, Nutrition specialist and Biostatistician. The Team Leader should have:
• Post-graduate degree in a relevant field, with extensive knowledge in health and nutrition issues
• S/he should have at least five years senior level experience in conducting KAP studies of similar programs in a developing country context.
• Experience in leading and organizing study teams.
• S/he should have extensive experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative assessments and familiar with the non-profit sector.
• Demonstrate experience of conducting high-quality gender sensitive surveys using mixed methods approaches.
• Excellent oral and written skills are required. (Knowledge of local languages will be an added advantage
