DEPARTMENT OF AUTOMOTIVE AND AERONAUTICAL
ENGINEERING
3.1 Technicians (Avionics, Aviation Mechanics and Automotive) (3 Posts)
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate would be responsible for:
• Setting up and running laboratory practical's.
• Ensuring the functionality and safety of the laboratory.
• Responsible for all technical aspects of the Department.
• Demonstrating methods and experiments to students.
• Controlling the materials kept in stock.
• Ensuring that lab equipment is ready for use when needed.
• Assisting the Department in soliciting for laboratory equipment.
• Managing the lab timetable and scheduling of machine use.
• Ensuring that all health and safety procedures are understood and followed correctly.
• Ensuring that equipment is properly cleaned.
• Assisting academic staff and students in research activities and projects and any other tasks as may be assigned by the Chairman.
• Good discipline of students within the laboratory.
• Proper care and holding of lab tools and equipment.
• Upkeep of attendance registers and absenteeism reports.
• Procuring of departmental equipment and consumables.
3.1.1 Avionics
Qualifications and Experience
• The successful incumbent must have, at least:
• A degree in Aircraft Engineering (Avionics) or equivalent from an institution recognized by the University.
• An MSc degree would be an added advantage.
• Experience in the use and application of aircraft engineering software would be ideal.
• Relevant technical experience will be an added advantage.
3.1.2 Aviation Mechanics
Qualifications and Experience
• The incumbent must have a minimum of:
• A degree in Aircraft Engineering (Aviation Mechanics) or equivalent.
• An MSc degree will be an added advantage.
• Be able to work under pressure with minimum supervision.
• Relevant technical experience and an ability use and application of aircraft engineering software would be an added advantage.
3.1.3
Automotive
Qualifications and Experience
• The incumbent must have atleast:
• A degree in Automotive Engineering or equivalent.
• An MSc degree and an ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision.
• Relevant technical experience and the ability to use and apply aircraft engineering software would be an added advantage.
