Technician (1 Post)

Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
• Layout, pegging and implementation of crop research trials,
• Crop research trial data collection, collation and entry,
• Planning and management of crop research operations,
• Planning and management of labour,
• Assisting undergraduate and postgraduate students in the Department of Crop Science and Post Harvest Technology in implementing their crop research experiments,
• General management of the crop research section,
• Performing any other related duties as assigned by the Head of Department

Qualifications and Experience

Requirements
Applicants should possess a minimum of 5 '0' level passes including English language and Mathematics and a National Diploma in Agriculture from a recognized institution. Applicants should have at least five years working experience in handling on-station and/or off-station crop research trials in a research environment. The applicant should be familiar with calibration and operation of agricultural equipment such as planters and sprayers. A basic understanding of common experimental designs is required. Applicants must be proficient in Microsoft Word & Excel computer packages. Motor cycle riding experience will also be an advantage.
