Job Description

CeSHHAR Zimbabwe is an organisation that specialises in population health research and programming, including on sexual and reproductive health and HIV/AIDS. CeSHHAR has an extensive national, regional, and international academic and community partnership network. CeSHHAR has a diverse range of funders which include the Wellcome Trust, the Gates Foundation, UK Medical Research Council, Templeton World Charity Foundation, Global Fund for AIDS TB and Malaria, UNICEF and UNFPA. We partner very closely with the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (UK), Zimbabwe's Ministry of Health and Childcare and international and regional centres of research excellence to evaluate national programmes and determine the impact, uptake, and cost effectiveness of novel reproductive health interventions. Reporting to the Research Scientist - The team leader will lead a team of research/survey assistants and citizen scientists on the REACT Study. S/he will oversee activities related to quantitative data collection and coordinate the work of the people on his/her team

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist the Research Scientist in leading and supervising a team of research/survey assistants, citizen scientists and drivers.
• Participate in training research/survey assistants and citizen scientists.
• Participate in mapping of catchment areas and identifying eligible households to be included in the study.
• Work with local leadership to ensure that they are informed about the survey/study.
• Pilot/test data collection tools before commencement of data collection.
• Manage logistics for data collection during fieldwork.
• Ensure staff punctuality, readiness, and preparedness for fieldwork
• Ensure participants are enrolled in the study and data are collected according to the study protocol.
• Ensure timely and accurate data collection, and that data are uploaded to the server daily.
• Perform daily statistics to determine number of participants enrolled in the study and number of records uploaded to server.
• Compare field statistics with statistics data from the server that will be compiled by the central team as part of quality control and quality assurance (QC/QA) activities.
• Assist the research scientist in ensuring access to study sites
• Ensure confidentiality and safekeeping of participant records during fieldwork.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Social Science or any related field, Good Clinical Practice Certificate,At least 3 years post - graduate relevant working experience, At least 2 years’ experience in managing research teams, Experience in the NGO sector will be an added advantage, Experience in quantitative data collection, Possession of good interpersonal skills, Proficient in Microsoft Office packages ,Must have good planning and problem - solving skills, Good communication skills both oral and written. Must have excellent report writing and presentations skills, Prioritization and goal setting, Ability to delegate
