Job Description

The Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU) is the largest and comprehensive Open & Distance Electronic-Learning (ODeL) university in Zimbabwe that offers lifelong learning in an affordable and flexible manner. Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced professionals to fill the vacant post(s) that have arisen within the University.

Duties and Responsibilities


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• The analyst is responsible for capturing, analyzing and documenting system user requirements before development;
• Responsible for clarifying user requirements to system developers;
• Acts as an intermediate between developers and system end users;
• The incumbent reports to the Software engineer;
• Analyzing procedures and reviewing processes to improve existing computer system modules;
• Writing detailed description of user needs, programme functions, flowcharts and dataflow diagrams to Developing team or modify computer program;
• Carrying out initial systems tests to check for compliance with users’ requirements; • Responsible for making recommendations for further system improvements.
• Responsible for preparing instructional manuals for systems users before system implementation;
• Providing technical recommendations pertaining to existing application system problems;
• Supporting existing enterprise software applications and databases as well as Microsoft office applications;
• Providing systems support including data backups, data restores, disaster recovery and storage management;
• Providing on-going systems training for users in the various University departments;
• Helping to define user acceptance criteria upon completion of the program;
• Undertaking any other duties as assigned by the software Engineer and the Manager ICT.


Qualifications and Experience

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Related
• At least two (2) years relevant post qualification experience
