Job Description

Support for Implementation of a Blended Learning strategy: Local NGO
Deadline: 8 October 2021
Background
The impact of Covid19 has been significant on education systems around the world, with policymakers and other key stakeholders scrambling to prevent a global learning crisis. Over the past year in Zimbabwe, as in many other countries, schools closed and reopened only to close again, teachers and learners face uncertainty, and there is an increasing reliance on remote and blended approaches to learning, despite limited ICT infrastructure and other resource constraints.
Our mission is to ensure girls’ right to education in Zimbabwe, and we support approximately 60 students from primary school through to tertiary education by covering all required school fees, as well as the costs of uniforms and school supplies. To create a holistic, supportive learning environment, we also provide academic support services and materials to our sponsored students, such as tutoring, mentoring and career guidance, empowerment camps and HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention education, feminine hygiene products for improved school attendance, a lending library with textbooks, reference books, and novels, and weekly traditional music and dance classes.
Unfortunately, it has become clear that the disruptions to formal education caused by the pandemic will be long lasting. Therefore, there is an urgent need for our organization to develop a comprehensive remote and blended learning strategy and acquire the necessary technological equipment to ensure that we are able to continue to fulfil our essential mission to ensure the right to education for marginalised girls thus helping to secure their future. While none of our current students have their own computers, all of them have access to electricity, and many are able to access the internet through the cell phone network.
The trust is committed to providing the students across the schools and colleges with excellent opportunities for remote learning. We understand the challenges that have arisen during covid19 and our remote learning strategy is driven by the following key aims: To create a strong base for remote learning with equality of access for all; To ensure that our remote learning offer is of high quality; To ensure that our remote learning strategy influences sustainable improvement and continuity
