LIBRARY DEPARTMENT

POST A: SUB LIBRARIAN (ZVISHAVANE CAMPUS)

The Sub Librarian shall be responsible for the development, implementation and management of information services. The Sub Librarian acts as the team leader in developing, implementing and assessing information literacy curriculum, reference and user information advisory services in both print and electronic environments in line with the University’s Education 5.0 obligations.

Duties and Responsibilities


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Develops Information literacy skills curriculum and is responsible for Information Literacy Skills training and orientation of new students.
Identifies, plans and coordinates training programs for staff and students in accessing library resources.
Identifies new trends in the Information Services field and recommends new technologies.
Providing support to academic staff and researchers engaged in research data management planning in liaison with the Research Support Librarian
Identifies Open Access and subscription-based resources relevant to the university curricular.
Provides virtual or in-person research consultations to faculty, researchers, staff, students, and other stakeholders.
Takes account of innovations and new developments and integrate them into service provision wherever appropriate.
Manages and supervises effective marketing of library services and resources in all the branch libraries.
Develops standard operating procedures and policies.
Overseas the general maintenance of all Campus library facilities and equipment.
Responsible for library resource mobilization.

Qualifications and Experience

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must be holders of a Master of Science Degree in Library & Information Science.
BSc Degree in Library and Information Science.
Any other Degree plus a Postgraduate Diploma in Library and Information Science.
At least three (3) years post qualification experience in a university library at Assistant/ Senior Assistant Librarian level.
