Job Description

The Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU) is the largest and comprehensive Open & Distance Electronic Learning (ODeL) University in Zimbabwe that offers lifelong learning in an affordable and flexible manner.

Suitably qualified, experienced and motivated candidates are invited to apply for the following vacant positions that have arisen at the Zimbabwe Open University.

Duties and Responsibilities



Main Responsibilities

1. Provide students with counseling services.
2. Assisting students to cope with social challenges
3. Liaising with student representative council in the regions on student services and support.
4. Assisting students in career choices, change and consolidation.
5. Providing support services to students with academic challenges
6. Assisting students with special learning needs and challenges to cope with their studies and manage their environment.
7. Ensuring students understand and appreciate the ZOU mode of distance teaching and open learning.
8. Assisting students choose appropriate courses for their programme of study and career requirements;
9. Coordinating SRC and Alumni activities;
10. Marketing ZOU products; and
11. Carrying out any other duties as assigned by the Dean, Student Services

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications and Experience

1. A Master’s Degree in Education or Social Sciences;
2. Possession of a PhD in any of the areas stated above is an added advantage;
3. Two (2) years relevant post qualification work experience; 4. Knowledge of distance education would be an added advantage;
5. Computer literacy is a must.
