Job Description

Stores person shall be responsible for day to day supervision of the stores, process all purchase requisitions received from user departments, sourcing of quotations from different suppliers, negotiating and manage long term pricing agreements, to mention but a few. To perform any other duty assigned by the superior.

Duties and Responsibilities

 Receive purchase requisitions from user departments, assess them and accurately prepare a Request For Quotation (RFQ) immediately.
 Communicate with user departments to cross check deliveries as per request as well as ensuring that deliveries tally with the end user expediting on local and foreign orders.
 Update outstanding orders in excel every time and report immediately to Finance Manager.
 Send Request For Quotation (RFQ) through email immediately to different suppliers and make follow ups and get three quotations for each request.
 Submit orders to Accounts Department for funding.
 Monitor stock levels in the stores and top ups of all items that affects productivity such as Workshop consumables and Office stationery for the purposes of reordering where necessary.
 Negotiate for the best value (price, quality and payment terms) with suppliers when every purchase is done.
 Negotiate and manage long term pricing agreements on critical commodities and liaising with suppliers both local and foreign /overseas in terms of stock requirements, pricing and delivery dates when ever necessary following laid down procedures.
 Update a price comparison sheet daily and weekly and present it to user departments so that they can make an informed decision.
 Carry out the day to day booking of incoming and outgoing stock using stock control register.
 Maintaining a register of all assets in the stores.
 To perform any other duties in line with the above as assigned by the superior.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
 A minimum of a Degree or equivalent in Purchasing and Supply.
 At least 5 years’ experience in the same role in the Transport and Logistics Industry.
 Extensive knowledge of both local and international purchasing.
 Clean Class 4 Drivers License a must.
 Must be mature and able to work under pressure with little or no supervision.
