Job Description

The purpose of the job is to spearhead the implementation, migration and optimisation of enterprise business systems, acting as the technical lead and project lead coordinator between vendors, internal users, and management. To ensure the availability, security, and optimisation of IT infrastructure, while driving digital transformation through AI and process automation to enhance efficiency and competitiveness in the insurance sector.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. ERP Implementation & Migration (Core Mandate)
• Lead the OS, ERP or CRM or any other business process system migration and integration across for the business.
• Develop project plans, budgets, and timelines, and coordinate with vendors and internal project teams.
• Ensure seamless migration from legacy systems into adopted systems.
• Champion user adoption through training, change management, and post-go-live support.
2. IT Infrastructure & Systems Oversight
• Oversee server, network, and systems performance monitoring, ensuring availability, security, and resilience.
• Establish and enforce IT policies, backup schedules, disaster recovery, and cybersecurity frameworks.
• Supervise installation, configuration, and upgrades of hardware, operating systems, and applications, delegating routine tasks to the Assistant.
• Ensure IT compliance with IPEC, ISO, ZINARA, and other regulatory requirements.
3. Automation & Cyber Security
• Identify, evaluate, and implement opportunities for process automation in core insurance operations (claims processing, underwriting, customer onboarding etc).
• Explore and deploy AI and machine learning tools for fraud detection, customer analytics, predictive modelling, and chatbot/virtual assistant integration.
• Ensure ethical, compliant, and cost-effective application of automation and AI in line with company strategy and regulatory frameworks.
• Act as the internal champion for digital transformation, training staff on new automation tools and monitoring adoption.

4. Leadership & Vendor Management
• Supervise IT support staff, assigning tasks and mentoring staff.
• Act as the technical escalation point for unresolved IT incidents.
• Manage third-party IT service providers, vendors, and consultants, ensuring service levels and value-for-money procurement.
• Vet, recommend, and approve IT suppliers, ensuring proper IT asset lifecycle management.
5. IT Operations & Business Continuity
• Ensure uninterrupted operation of IT services (internet, VPN, core insurance systems, email, and databases).
• Oversee fault logs, helpdesk escalations, and resolution of high-impact incidents.
• Conduct periodic IT audits, risk assessments, and vulnerability testing.
• Ensure electrical safety and IT infrastructure compliance.
6. Strategic IT Contribution
• Advise Executive Management on IT strategy, digital transformation, and automation opportunities.
• Prepare periodic IT reports for management and board committees.
• Align IT initiatives with business growth strategy.
• Drive cost optimisation, budget control, and vendor contract management.

Qualifications and Experience

1. Required to have a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field.
2. Professional certifications (e.g. Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer/Administrator, VMware or Cisco) are an added advantage.
3. Project management qualification also an added advantage.
4. Data Protection Officer Certification also an added advantage.
