RioZim Ltd, a wholly owned Zimbabwean Company with mining and related operations in several parts of Zimbabwe, is looking for suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the following positions:
BRIEF OUTLINE OF THE JOB
The Senior Mine Captain will undertake any such tasks, within the scope of his expertise, as may be directed by the General Manager inclusive of but not limited to, the following:
Duties and Responsibilities
• Enforcement of Mining (Management and Safety Regulations) S.I.109 of 1990.
• Enforcement of Explosives Regulations S.I.72 of 1989.
• Maintenance of discipline within the department.
• Ensure and inspect that drilling and blasting is carried out in the safest manner possible and within set parameters i.e. burden and spacing, drilling rates and powder factor and proffer recommendations for improvements.
• Ensure that Drilling, Loading & Hauling is performed efficiently to achieve set targets.
• Generate departmental budget and mining plan and in charge of the execution.
• Compliance with the environment, health and safety policy.
• Take all reasonable controls in the department to prevent loss or damage to machinery and equipment.
• Appointment of competent persons as may be necessary to assist in the day to day running of the department.
• Maintain effective communication through meetings, appraisals, reports etc.
• Adhere to all mine working procedures.
Qualifications and Experience
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bsc Honours Mining Engineering
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
• A Full Blasting Licence
• 5 years of post-qualification experience COMPETENCIES
• Excellent, proven interpersonal, verbal and written skills.
• Strong leadership, analytical and problem solving skills.
• Ability to achieve results through others.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision.
