Job Description
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the above post in the Health Services department.
Job Title : Senior Health Officer
Grade : 15
Reporting To : Chief Environmental Health Officer
Duties and Responsibilities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
a) Running the day to day operations of the Health Department effectively
b) Staff supervision in the Department
c) Ensuring sound, effective and efficient health care delivery system in the City Council's area of jurisdiction.
d) Monitoring the urban environment to keep it friendly and free from pollution
g)Implementing and enforcing the provisions or ine rum, Health Act Chapter 15:17 and other Legal instruments in line with the Urban Council Act chapter 29:15 provisions.
h) Ensuring that Council clinics, materials and child health activities are managed in line with the Primary Health Care Concept.
i) Facilitating data collection, analysis, interpretation and then prepare informative annual plans, budgets, monthly and annually and report to committees of Council and attending meetings where required to do so.
j) Coordinating with other Council Departments on matters of mutual interest.
k) Liaising with the Government Ministries and NGOs on matters pertaining to health.
I) To carry out any other functions as delegated by the Chief Environmental Health Officer from time to time.
Qualifications and Experience
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
a) A BSc Honours degree in Environmental Health, Nursing or any other relevant Degree from a reputable university.
b) Be registered with the relevant and applicable professional body.
c) A relevant Masters Degree is a distinct advantage
d) A Minimum of 5 "0" Levels including English Language
e) Local government experience is an added advantage
f) A Minimum of 3 years relevant experience.
g) Have excellent managerial skills
h) Must be prepared to work under pressure and at odd times
i) Must be at least 35 years of age
