Job Description
The University seeks to recruit applicants with requisite qualifications, skills and experience for the following post in the Catering Unit: -
SENIOR COOK ( 2 POSTS)
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities
Prepares work station
Liaises with Catering Supervisor/Chef on stocks of food supplies
Plans daily menu
Prepares and cooks variety of dishes
Ensures that safety, health and hygiene standards are adhered to
Ensures readiness of work area for the next shift
Manages time for serving meals
Supervises junior staff
Reports occurrences to the Catering Supervisor/Chef
Maintains bin cards and stock control registers
Carries out any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must possess 5 O’ Level passes including English Language plus a Diploma in Catering/
Cookery/ Hotel Management or related field and at least 5 years experience as a cook. Leadership or
supervisory experience is a requirement. Experience as a Chef would be an added advantage.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Good oral and written communication skills.
Ability to motivate and train junior cooks.
Ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision.
Ability to lead a team.
Good customer care.
Ability to cater for large groups and special occasions.
Menu planning including catering for special need.
Good time management.
Honesty and integrity.
