SENIOR ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT — REPORTS, RECONCILIATIONS AND BUDGETING X 1
JOB SUMMARY:
• Ensuring timely preparation of monthly returns to the Ministry of Education, Sport, Arts and Culture and preparation of management and board reports.
• Prepare financial performance reports.
• Ensuring the timely preparation of monthly bank reconciliation statements and make follow-ups on any outstanding bank statements at any given time.
• Participate in the preparation of the Council's budgets e.g. cash budget and master budget.
• Manage the Council's investments and introduce the Council's security items register.
• Timely preparation of quarterly returns to the Ministry of Education, Sport, Arts and Culture.
• Prepare the ZIMSEC master budget.
• To participate in the re-introduction of the Cash Budgeting concept and be able to prepare quarterly and monthly cash budgets.
• Maintain and update the Council's Investment Register, make follow ups on all Council's investment maturities and attend to queries that might arise in the process. This must be in line with the Council's Investment Policy.
• Supervise the timely payment of all salaries related expenditure and the capturing of all investments and salaries vouchers into the Sun Accounting package.
• Carry out periodic checks on the security items register.
• Supervise and do performance appraisals for junior members of staff.
• Perform any other duties as delegated by Management Accountant.
• Possess a completed professional qualification in accounting such as C.I.S, SAM, A.C.C.A or C.I.M.A or
• 2 A-Level passes.
• 5 years' experience as an Assistant Accountant, Reports, within the Council's Finance Division complemented by an in depth knowledge of the Sun Accounting package with a strong bias towards report writing and the reconciliation manager.
• Must be highly computer literate. Knowledge of Ms Word, Ms Excel and the Sun Accounting package is a must
• Possession of excellent report writing skills is a must.
