Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to undertake an intensive two-year structured graduate-traineeship in Agronomy.
Key Responsibilities
• Assisting in the design and implementation of research experiments
• Organizing and carrying out routine research trial management
• Assisting in implementing and managing assigned projects from beginning to end
• Writing weekly and monthly reports in a timely manner
• Assisting in grower recruitment
• Collecting soil samples for soil analysis
• Assisting in budgeting, distribution of inputs, and parent seed program management
• Calibrating equipment and preparing land for timely planting of seed crops
• Monitoring seed planting ratios
• Providing agronomic support services to contracted growers
• Conducting inspections to manage pests and diseases in seed crops
• Assisting and monitoring the detasseling process in seed maize
• Monitoring harvesting and seed deliveries to the factory
• Collecting seed samples for laboratory processes
• Monitoring seed storage at farms
• Performing other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture/Crop Production/Agronomy/or equivalent.
• At least one-year industrial attachment experience
• Class 4 drivers’ license is an added advantage
