2. REGISTRAR’S DEPARTMENT
2.1 Security Officer (1 Post)
Duties and Responsibilities
• The incumbent will be reporting to the Chief Security Officer.
• Assisting the Chief Security Officer in formulation of security related policies.
• Supervising the operations of the University Security through Security Sergeants.
• Assisting the Chief Security Officer in developing manpower development programmes for the department and conducting training programs for staff in the department.
• Detecting and investigating all losses that may occur in the university from time to time and recommending to the Registrar as well as referring to the police.
• Supervising security books and records.
• Ensuring students and staff members are oriented about security issues obtaining in the university as the country in general.
• Overseeing the loss control function of the department and recommending to the Registrar and Management Appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Carrying out internal investigations on incidents that occur on all campuses, the university farm and other properties and refer all criminal cases to the police and all administrative cases to the Registrar and management.
• Performing any other duties as directed by Chief Security Officer and management from time to time.
Qualification and Experience
• A Bachelor’s degree in Police Studies/Security Management/Risk Management or its equivalent is a must.
• Diploma in Security and Risk Management or its equivalent is desirable.
• At least 6 years working experience preferable in the Police, Army, Prisons or any Security Organisation in which three years should be at supervisory level.
