The Organisation of Rural Associations for Progress (ORAP) is a leading local NGO involved in development and relief (emergency) work in rural communities in Matabeleland North, Matabeleland South and Midlands provinces. It exists to fight all forms of poverty among the rural and urban grassroots communities of disadvantaged women, men and youth through the empowerment of people by facilitating their development in their diverse cultural contexts.
Project Summary
The vacancy for the upcoming USAID funded Amalima Loko Project. The project seeks to improve food security through increased food access and sustainable watershed management. Its purposes are P1: Enhanced and inclusive local ownership over food security and resilience planning and development, P2: Watershed management improved, P3: Adaptive and absorptive capacity improved
Position summary
The incumbent will work under the Project Accountant and be responsible for the preparation of the payroll for Amalima Loko. The position is initially funded by Amalima Loko which will therefore become a large part of the focus of the role. The Salaries Administrator is 100% USAID funded Amalima Loko project. The Salaries Administrator will work with the Human Resources Department and the Finance Department in ensuring that employees are paid as per time worked. S/he will prepare the pay roll based on timesheets. The job holder will be a thought of as an advisor, on employee benefits and will implement the organisation’s remunerations policy. S/he will work with payroll service providers in ensuring that all the changes on the labour market are taken on board
Major Duties/Responsibilities include:-
Inputting employee data on the payroll system using their contracts
Calculating the salaries and benefits for each employee and making the necessary adjustments
Capturing leave days taken as they are depicted in the leave module
Compiling excel schedules for project salaries transfers
Reconciling the excel schedules to the payroll reports
Transferring funds from projects to individual salary accounts
Preparing salaries allocations for checking
Reconciling the allocations to the gross claim.
Compiling a summary of the allocations
Preparing payroll reconciliation monthly
Coding and capturing payroll vouchers, journals and receipts into Cloud ERP
Collecting effort reports from HR department a monthly basis so as to create the base for calculating employee remunerations
Performing any other work-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:-
HND in Accounting /Finance, Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance is an added advantage.
Experience:-
Technical skills: Ability to remain calm under pressure, a keen eye to detail and accuracy, flexible, good timekeeping and ability to meet strict deadlines, organised, logical and excellent numerical skills
Experience: Two years’ payroll processing experience and expertise in Adaski payroll system, and CloudNext ERP
Strong understanding of the taxation system in Zimbabwe and how it affects the income of employees
Knowledge of other statutory bodies like NSSA and their requirements
Understanding the impact of noncompliance with ZIMRA and NSSA
A strong mathematical competency
