Safe Schools Officers (Tsholotsho): Bantwana Zimbabwe

Background
Bantwana Zimbabwe seeks an experienced candidate for the Safe Schools Officer position to be based in Tsholotsho, for a CDC/ZimTTECH-funded DREAMS program. The Determined, Resilient, Empowered, AIDS-free, Mentored, and Safe women (DREAMS) program aims to reducing new HIV infections amongst adolescent girls and young women and will be implemented in Matabeleland North districts namely Bubi, Nkayi, Tsholotsho and Lupane . Bantwana will implement four core sets of interventions namely, i) HIV prevention, condom education, gender norms change, social assets building, and sexual violence prevention; ii) Education Subsidies and primary, secondary and Part-Time and Continuing Education support; iii) Combination of socioeconomic approaches for caregivers layered with positive parenting; and iv) Economic empowerment for AGYW (financial literacy, work readiness and employability trainings, vocational training for market-driven technical skills, internships).
Position Summary
The Safe Schools Officers will coordinate in-school education, HIV/GBV prevention and Social Asset Building Activities for AGYW and provide oversight of the Bantwana district offices.

Duties and Responsibilities

Roles and responsibilities
Design Education and Asset Building strategies that are responsive to the needs of AGYW. These should incorporate evidence-based curriculums that have been approved by the donor and the Government of Zimbabwe; Provide technical oversight on the implementation of formal and non-formal education activities, in collaboration with Economic Strengthening, AGYW, and Monitoring and Evaluation Officers; Work with primary and secondary schools to implement HIV and GBV prevention interventions amongst AGYW, using the Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE), Youth Empowerment Program (YEP), and IMPower curricula; Monitor compliance and implementation of education policies in partner organizations; Spearhead partnerships and collaborations with government (especially the district education offices) stakeholders, NGOs in the project targeted districts to enrich and leverage support for AGYW; Provide oversight of the district project office, ensuring district level staff are coordinated and meeting set targets; Compile periodic progress reports; Keep abreast with, integrate or document emerging best practices in AGYW programming; Liaise with the M&E team in tracking and reporting related targets; Network and represent the project at various forums/stakeholders meetings.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications
A Degree in Social Work, Social Studies, Developmental Studies, or any related field; At least 5 years of experience in implementing community-based programs; Demonstrated ability in project design and implementation of AGYW/Health/Social Protection programs; Experience in working with different stakeholders, preferably including experience in leading coordination efforts; Experience designing and developing programming for youth including adolescent girls and young women; Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; Ability to work independently, take initiative and leadership; Familiarity with PEPFAR 3.0 and DREAMS AGYW programming priorities.
